Trauma Sensitive Yoga – An 8 Week Series

Rooted in the researched approach developed by Bessel Van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score and David Emerson, author of Overcoming Trauma Through Yoga, this workshop offers Yoga as a support for those in a process of recovery from traumatic experience. All elements of this class are 100% optional and teachers offer invitations rather than instructions. Options for movement and breathwork are demonstrated from one consistent place in the room and physical assists are never made. While this practice reflects a physiological understanding of recovery from post-traumatic stress, central to this understanding is the freedom for students to explore their own awareness, agency, and choice. Beginners are welcome, as well as folks seeking a space to reset after illness, major life transitions, or injury. Chairs as well as mat options will be available. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Classes take place Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:15pm, May 29th – July 17th, 2019.

This 8 week series is Pay-What-You-Can $40-$160. The value of this series is $160. Sign-up here!
