This 6 week course is for anyone in recovery from the white chip to the anniversary chip and anyone looking to overcome self-destructive or addictive tendencies. Family members of addicts, yoga teachers, therapists and counselors will also find this workshop helpful. Yoga of Recovery combines Yoga, Ayurveda and 12-step principles to create a holistic approach to recovery.
Over the 6 weeks the 6 Tenets of Yoga of Recovery will be discussed starting with Life is Longing and ending with Life is Progress. This class is a stepping stone to transformation using yoga therapy techniques that delve deep into our compulsive behaviors. Chitra has over 15 years of experience teaching yoga and 6 years in recovery in the Charlottesville community.
This course will be offered on Tuesdays, 1:30 – 2:45 from January 8th to February 12th

This 6 week series is being offered Pay-What-You-Can $30-$120. The value of this series is $120. Sign-up from here.
You can pay online for the series in increments of $10 between $30-$120. You are also welcome to pay over the phone at 434-218-7677, or in person at our Jefferson School location when we have other services going on.
This series will require a minimum of 8 people to be signed-up. If we haven’t hit the minimum we will contact those already signed up so that we all have chance to recruit a friend or two in the last few days!

About the instructor, Chitra Kate McDevitt:
Chitra Kate McDevitt RYT500 has been teaching Integral Yoga since 2003. She teaches Basic and Intermediate levels as well as Restorative Yoga. She has been working with Durga Leela and Yoga of Recovery since 2011 which combines ayurveda, yoga philosophy and 12-step principles. She is certified through the Lotus Palm School of Thai Yoga and is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist which combines classical yoga techniques and elements of contemporary body-mind psychology.
