Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a guided systematic method that helps the practitioner to enter deeper states of relaxation yet become increasingly aware of their inner surroundings. The practice of Yoga Nidra has been found to reduce tension, anxiety, headaches and boost immune function and the body’s ability to heal from injury, chronic stress or illness.
Each week you will experience a new session that will enable your body to enter these deeper states of relaxation while remaining consciously awake, so that the body can heal, integrate and assimilate. Afterwards you will feel incredibly calm, grounded, and focused.
A 30-40 minute Yoga Nidra sessions is said to have the healing potential of up to 2-3 hours of deep sleep.
We will begin with simple movements to open the body before lying on our backs for the yogic sleep. Wear layered, comfortable clothes so you will stay warm throughout the session. Blankets and props are provided.
This 4 week course will be held on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:15pm from November 30th to December 21st. A full paying series is $67 and the course is available on a sliding scale (based on income).
The course will require a minimum of 10 people to be signed up. If we haven’t hit the minimum we will contact those already signed up so we can all have a chance to recruit a friend or two in the last few days.
