Slow, Stretchy, Welcoming Drop-in Yoga with Lili Powell

After teaching the popular series, “Intro to Yoga” and “Yoga for Beginners” for many years, Lili Powell now offers a Level 1 drop-in class for new and returning students. Advanced registration is not required. Simply show-up and get signed in once you’re at our Jefferson School location. Class is Pay-What-You-Can $5-$15.

This Level 1 class invites students to reduce stress and enhance their overall well-being and vitality in a safe, alignment-based class. Open to all ages and bodies. You will learn how yoga can help you reduce stress, enjoy increasing your fitness and health, and contribute to an improved personal outlook.

Weekly themes may include: posture, strength, flexibility, balance, mind/mood, or spirit. Lili encourages questions and supplements the classes with information about the roots, science, and benefits of yoga. Weekly topics may include somewhat more philosophical yoga practice, such as how to adopt a “beginner’s mind” or practice balance on and off the mat by grounding, centering and working with resistance.

For brand new and returning yoga students, and others who want to review yoga essentials in a safe, alignment-based class. No fancy yoga togs needed.

Lili-P-150x150About Lili Powell: Lili enjoys leading well-rounded, multi-level classes in a warm and welcoming environment. Lili has practiced yoga since 2000 and completed the Yoga Source 200-hour teacher training in 2005. In addition to studying yoga, she also practices Pilates and mindfulness meditation. Connected to Charlottesville for over 35 years, Lili is grateful for the opportunity to serve Common Ground’s mission and our local community. She lives in town with her husband and their kitty, Pippin, who is named for the famous Albemarle apple.
