Ground Work is a new program from Common Ground that brings chair massage, yoga, mindfulness workshops, and auricular acupuncture into businesses and organizations throughout Charlottesville. Ground Work is a way to contribute to Common Ground’s mission (both fiscally and in practice) of making the healing arts affordable and accessible in Charlottesville while reducing stress and enhancing productivity at your business or organization.
Chair Massage – Pay-What-You-Can $80-$100/ hr
The National Institute of Health has identified massage as the most effective, evidence-based complementary medicine in America. A great way to reward and recognize your employees. More information about how we schedule Chair Massage is available from here.
Yoga – Pay-What-You-Can $100-$150/ hr
Yoga improves the immune system, lowers blood pressure, and protects your spine. Spinal protection is of great benefit for those doing seated work for the majority of their day.
Mindfulness Workshops – Pay-What-You-Can $250-$300/ session
Mindfulness is paying attention moment-by-moment to your thoughts, feelings, and environment without judgment. In these workshops you will learn simple, science-backed techniques such as focused breathing and meditation that will lower stress, decrease reactivity and enhance focus and concentration. Research has shown that 8 weeks of mindfulness practice increases density of gray matter in brain regions linked to learning, memory, emotion regulation, and empathy.
Possible mindfulness workshop topics (choose one per weekly session):
Auricular Acupuncture – $80-$100/ hr
Acupuncture focused on ear points can help employees find balance in a busy work environment. Auricular acupuncture clears the mind, and creates energy.
As research has shown that the cumulative effect of an ongoing practice is an important part of the efficacy of these modalities, we encourage organizations to look at multi-week series for yoga or mindfulness workshops.
6 week series – 10% discount
8 week series – 15% discount
