Community Offerings

southwood525x291

Common Ground is more than our downtown studio: we bring the healing arts out into neighborhoods and communities to meet people where they are.

Community offerings are open to the public, with the exception of a few noted otherwise. Services are offered at no cost, thanks to our practitioners who volunteer their time and our donors who underwrite clinic costs. Clients are welcome to give a donation, but it is not required. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Zero Balancing with The Women’s Initiative and Sentara Starr Hill Health Center

Offering: Zero Balancing
When: Second Tuesdays, 10 am – noon
Where: Sentara Starr Hill Health Center / Jefferson School City Center
Description: Zero Balancing is a hands-on technique performed with the client face up on a massage table, fully clothed. It is a great experience if you are new to massage therapy or bodywork. A session begins by evaluating your body for tension and stress. Gentle finger pressure is applied to your spine, hips, feet, arms, legs, neck, head and fingers to release held tension. Lengthening your bones connected together by ligaments with a precise curved pull at each joint helps to initiate a release of held or stressful energy in the body. The protocol is designed to dissolve limiting or stuck patterns through the skeletal system in a vertical pattern from head to toe. What participates feel after Zero Balancing is a strong sense of the connection between their mind and body, mental clarity, focus, awareness of their relationship to nature and feel a deep sense of their own presence in the moment.
