Insight or mindfulness meditation, also known as Vipassana, aims to free the mind from the distortions of self-centeredness, negativity, and confusion. Seeing life as a constantly changing process, one begins to accept pleasure and pain, fear and joy, and all the aspects of life with increasing balance and equanimity. Seeing things as they truly are through cultivating a mindful and loving awareness, we learn to relate to life with greater serenity and less stress. This balanced awareness, grounded in the present moment, leads to a deep stillness and a growing understanding of the nature of life.
